We are looking for proactive and experienced Growing Manager to join our Lambs Flowers Nursery team based in Pinchbeck.
This role will be a very varied role within the Lambs Flowers Nursery team. You will be responsible for the safety, quality and operational performance and management of the Nursery site, ensuring that all crops are grown to specification and the finished product is produced within budget and meets customer requirements. Co-ordinating and communicating with other departments within the Greeen+ Group business and Senior Management Team, information necessary to ensure an efficient business. To be successful in this role, you will need to treat our Nursery as your own, and there will be the requirement to work alongside, leading by example, with the Nursery team, so you will need to be fully trained in all aspects of growing tasks, including, crop inspections, crop spraying, watering, pest control, crop rotations, glasshouse prep, control and ground working. You will also need to hold a current forklift / PPT / telehandler / shunter licences as there will be a requirement to control light or heavy machinery in various fields and perform tasks as required on the Nursery.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Good working knowledge of horticulture nursery and growing
- Previously held a Growing / Nursery Management role
- Crop spraying certificates (PA1, PA3 & PA6)
- Hold a current forklift / PPT / POEP /telehandler / shunter licences
- A good understanding of Health & Safety
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong literacy & numeracy skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Enjoy the challenge of working in a fast moving environment
- Able to work under pressure and working to deadlines
- The ability to work as part of a team or individually
- Full driving licence and own transport essential
Due to the nature of a Nursery business and seasonal growing business needs, a flexible approach to hours / days worked is required, as you will be required to work early mornings and evening work, as well as weekend working.
